The Treatment Center

Kiryat Adam provides psychological care to the diverse populations of Lod and its surrounding area. Our mission is to strengthen the community and offer a comprehensive treatment support system for the children of Lod and their families. The wide range of services available at the center allows for great flexibility, with the aim of providing each individual with the care best suited to their needs. Services are offered to individuals of all ages, with a particular emphasis on children, adolescents, and young adults.

Our treatment offerings are varied and include individual therapy, dyadic therapy, group therapy, parental guidance, and parent-focused treatment. Services are delivered by psychologists, social workers, and art therapists from both the Jewish (secular, religious, and ultra-Orthodox) and Arab sectors. The center also offers psycho-diagnostic assessments.

Our clinical team is at the heart of both our professional excellence and our human-centered approach. Therapists participate regularly in individual and group supervision, clinical seminars, and ongoing learning sessions across a wide range of subjects, reflecting our deep commitment to continuous learning and professional and personal growth. These activities ensure clinical excellence, professional accountability, and ongoing engagement with current knowledge and ethical practice. We see learning and supervision as central to our credibility and to the center’s ability to provide high-quality, culturally sensitive, values-based care to all who turn to us.

Kiryat Adam also serves as a nurturing professional home for therapists in the region, and as a center for the training and supervision of early-career clinicians and students across the treatment spectrum. As part of these training programs, we offer academic seminars and professional development courses. The center provides training in psychotherapy and management issues, through psychodynamic conceptualization, in an individual and group format, according to demand and need. We also maintain strong professional partnerships with welfare and educational services in Lod and the surrounding communities.

Treatment approach/method

The center's mental health care is tailored to each individual’s needs and their cultural context and background, addressing a broad range of emotional and psychological challenges. We believe deeply in the importance of understanding the context in which a child develops—personal, familial, and communal—and we view each child and their world through a holistic and expansive lens.

Our clinical work is grounded in the principles of Self Psychology, which emphasize the importance of an empathic, inclusive, and enduring clinical relationship as the foundation for healing and change. This approach enables meaningful treatment of the wounded self in its many expressions, including behavioral disorders, depression, anxiety, and adjustment challenges. We also work with children who have been exposed to developmental, complex, or acute trauma.

The relationship with parents holds a central place in our treatment approach. We believe that close collaboration with mental health and educational is essential to the success of treating the child and the family.

The treatment center is committed to reaching as many children, adolescents, young adults, and families as possible throughout Lod and surrounding communities. Our goal is to deepen our support and engagement within the community while advancing a professional and emotionally informed discourse that places the needs of the child at its center.

The center offers a variety of treatments tailored to the needs of individual children and their families:

Populations Served

The Kiryat Adam Treatment Center provides care for young children and adolescents dealing with emotional and developmental challenges of varying degrees of severity that affect academic, social, or behavioral functioning. These include difficulties with adjustment, emotional regulation, self-esteem, depression, and anxiety.

Our clinical team also brings extensive experience and expertise in treating trauma resulting from violence, neglect, and family distress, as well as prolonged exposure to harmful environments that can lead to complex trauma.

Treatment services are fully or partially subsidized in order to ensure that care remains accessible and equitable for all who seek support.

Each week, we provide clinical care to approximately 350 individuals in both Hebrew and Arabic—through our treatment center and in schools across the community—reflecting our commitment to making high-quality emotional and psychological care accessible to every person, in every walk of life.

Student Internship Program

Each year, students specializing in art therapy and social work complete their practicum training at Kiryat Adam. These students provide individual and group therapy within schools in Lod and Ramla, helping extend access to care for residents who are unable to reach the center for a variety of reasons.

Students undergo a rigorous selection process and receive high-quality professional training that includes individual supervision, group supervision, and later, a theoretical seminar.

Their work enables us to make treatment services accessible to populations who might otherwise be unable to receive care through Kiryat Adam. At the same time, the training program helps cultivate the next generation of clinicians, many of whom go on to join our professional team.
