Educational Center
Kiryat Adam's Educational Center offers advanced training programs for mental health professionals, including psychotherapy training grounded in Self Psychology and the psychoanalytic-Buddhist Human Spirit program. These programs combine theoretical depth, clinical practice, and the cultivation of the spiritual dimension in therapeutic work, with a focus on deepening understanding of the human psyche, the therapist–client relationship, and the connection between psychological, cultural, and spiritual processes.
The center’s programs are designed for professionals in the fields of mental health and therapy, offering a multi-year course of study that integrates theoretical instruction, clinical seminars, supervision, and a vibrant professional learning community. By bringing together contemporary psychoanalytic knowledge, diverse intellectual traditions, and accumulated clinical experience, the center seeks to train practitioners who view their work as both a human and professional calling, and who cultivate an attentive, empathic, and deeply thoughtful treatment approach.
The Educational Center operates as part of Kiryat Adam’s broader work in Lod—a professional and communal space dedicated to learning, healing, and personal and professional growth. Through this work, the center aims to contribute to the development of psychoanalytic and therapy-based discourse in Israel, while fostering a community of practitioners committed to deepening knowledge and advancing forms of care that are sensitive to both the individual and their wider environment.
The Self Psychology Psychoanalytic Program
The Israeli Association for Self Psychology and the Study of Subjectivity was founded in 1999 by an enterprising group of psychoanalysts, clinical psychologists, and mental health practitioners working within the psychoanalytic tradition. Its purpose was to create a professional and organizational framework for cultivating and advancing Self Psychology, as developed by Heinz Kohut, together with the psychoanalytic developments emerging from its contemporary applications.
In 2010, the Association opened its doors for the first time to professionals seeking formal study through a foundational psychotherapy training program based on the thought of Heinz Kohut and his successors in Israel and abroad.
The program is designed to provide a systematic and in-depth grounding in the theoretical and clinical foundations of psychoanalytic Self Psychology, and in its distinctive approach to understanding the human psyche and the process of healing. In October 2025, the eighth cohort of the program opened at Kiryat Adam in Lod.
Human Spirit, a Psychoanalytic-Buddhist Training Program
Human Spirit is a unique initiative—a cultural and intellectual enterprise that seeks to create a foundation for unprecedented pioneering collaboration between Self Psychology and Tibetan Buddhism: between a distinctly Western discipline devoted to the treatment of the human psyche and an ancient tradition that invites the individual toward spiritual transformation.
We believe in the unique affinity between these two disciplines and in their potential to expand the humanistic application of psychoanalysis. Through this integration, Human Spirit seeks to cultivate a learning community and a living framework for the growth, practice, and experience of psychoanalysts dedicated to nurturing and refining the spiritual dimension of consciousness.
