Nirim gives young men and women at the highest end of the risk spectrum a second chance—often their last one—to return to the fold of Israeli society as contributing, independent empowered citizens. Many participants come from low socio-economic backgrounds, and some face complex life circumstances that include violence, neglect, substance abuse, and disengagement from educational frameworks.
The organization operates a unique rehabilitative youth village founded on a belief in the strength and potential of every young person. Nirim’s educational and treatment approach focuses on nurturing personal strengths, providing tools to build self-confidence and emotional resilience, and guiding participants toward creating a new life story grounded in values, meaning, and personal accountability.
A central component of the Nirim philosophy is outdoor therapy—combining challenging hikes and treks, intensive physical activity, and survival-skills development as a means of building inner resilience, self-efficacy, and leadership. Concurrently, strong emphasis is placed on education, completing a formal education, and meaningful military service as milestones toward successful integration into society.
Anatta Foundation has supported Nirim since 2013. This support has enabled the organization to deepen and expand its work and establish new frameworks, including a dedicated treatment program for girls at risk, an enrichment and personal development center that helps participants discover their talents, and a unique training program in wilderness-based therapy featuring desert journeys, adventure sports, and experiential field workshops.
