Education

Elifelet works on behalf of children from the asylum seeker community in Israel, with the goal of providing them with a safe, nurturing, and enriching childhood. While Israel upholds international law and does not deport asylum seekers from Sudan and Eritrea to their countries of origin, many have lived in Israel for more than a decade without permanent status or full rights

Within this reality, many children are born and raised in Israel under difficult conditions, often without adequate institutional support. Their parents frequently work long hours in low-wage jobs, while young children may spend their days in improvised daycare settings located in small apartments, basements, or rooms lacking light and ventilation. Many also experience a severe lack of attention, engaged play, enrichment, and sense of security

Elifelet is a non-political organization committed to bridging these gaps and providing children with emotional, educational, and developmental support through a network of after-school centers and a broad therapeutic-developmental framework. With the help of hundreds of volunteers from across Israeli society, the organization creates a holistic support system for children from infancy through the end of elementary school—both within educational settings and the home—offering them a warm, supportive, and enriching environment throughout the day

In this way, Elifelet enables every child in Israel’s asylum seeker community to dream, play, grow, and realize their potential—grounded in safety, love, and a sense of belonging
