Batsheva Dance Company was founded in Israel in 1964 by Baroness Batsheva de Rothschild, and is recognized today as one of the most prominent and acclaimed dance companies in the world. The company stands at the forefront of both the Israeli and international dance worlds, largely through the artistic vision of its resident choreographer, Ohad Naharin. The innovative movement language he developed, Gaga, has become a globally recognized training method.

The company includes approximately 40 dancers across two ensembles: the main company and the Batsheva Ensemble. It count dancers from Israel and around the world amongst its numbers, and together they perform more than 220 performances annually in Israel and abroad, in front of audiences of over 100,000 people.

Alongside its original repertoire, the company also leads unique initiatives, including “Batsheva Dancers Create,” which gives dancers the opportunity to develop independent work, as well as an annual incubator program and summer courses for outstanding students in dance programs throughout Israel.
